Repair Cafe and Clothing Swap Event

You’re invited! Peterborough County and Repair Café Peterborough are co-hosting our annual Repair Café & Clothing swap on the 28^th of this month, a community event perfectly suited to a circular economy!

The clothing swap is a great excuse to make some room in your closet for a new-to-you winter wardrobe. If you want to donate gently used clothing for the swap, it can be dropped off at the Lang Pioneer Village (104 Lang Road, Keene) between 10am and 3pm from Monday November 23^rd until Friday November 27^th. Clothing can also be dropped off at the Peterborough County Public Works Building (310 Armor Road, Peterborough) during business hours from 8:30am to 4:30pm until Friday November 27^th. Clothes and accessories for all ages that are clean and in good condition (no odours, broken zippers, holes, etc.) are accepted, and clothes hangers are also accepted and appreciated! When considering donation, a good rule of thumb is that if you wouldn’t give it to a friend, it’s probably not a suitable donation. Some items that will not be accepted for the swap are non-clothing items (toys, books, helmets, bed linens, household goods), undergarments, and sports equipment.

As for the repair café, a group of volunteer fixers with wide-ranging skills that enable them to mend and repair everyday items. Repair cafés are a free resource where the goal is to make any repairs you need collaboratively on everything from clothes to jewelry to electronics and appliances and so much more. Participating in the repair café is as easy as bringing in something broken from home and asking one of the volunteers to help you fix it.

Check out the event happening at the Lang Pioneer Village Agricultural Heritage Building (146 N. Lang Road, Keene) any time between 1pm-4pm on Saturday November 28^th. Learn more here.

We’ll see you there!
