North Monaghan Water and Wastewater Servicing Class Environmental Assessment

The Township of Cavan Monaghan has launched two Environmental Assessments (EAs) to explore how full municipal water and wastewater services can be provided to support future growth in North Monaghan. The study area includes Fraserville, Kawartha Downs, Peterborough Airport, Springville, Five Mile Turn, and the employment lands located between these areas. These studies build on earlier planning work, including the Fraserville Secondary Plan and the Fraserville-North Monaghan Servicing Study Master Plan.

Why are these studies being done?

As North Monaghan continues to grow, the Township needs to ensure there is enough infrastructure in place to support new homes, businesses, and employment opportunities. The Environmental Assessments will help determine the best long-term solutions for providing reliable municipal water and wastewater services to the area. [

What will be studied?

The studies will:

• Identify current and future water and wastewater servicing needs.
• Assess infrastructure requirements to support growth.
• Evaluate different servicing options and identify preferred solutions.
• Consider environmental, technical, and financial factors before recommendations are made.

For wastewater servicing, the study will also examine options for a new wastewater treatment plant, including treatment technologies, potential locations, and environmental considerations.

For water servicing, the study will investigate potential new groundwater well systems in the Syer Line and Lansdowne Street West area.

Public Input is Important

Community feedback will play an important role throughout the process. Residents, businesses, landowners, and other interested parties will have opportunities to learn about the project and provide input at a Public Information Centre (PIC). Details about upcoming engagement opportunities will be shared as the studies progress.
