Project Overview

The Township of North Kawartha is exploring options for publicly accessible electric vehicle (EV) charging stations to support residents, seasonal property owners, visitors, and local businesses. As the number of electric vehicles continues to grow across Ontario, access to reliable and appropriately located charging infrastructure is becoming increasingly important, particularly in rural and seasonal communities such as North Kawartha.

Public feedback will help the Township understand:

  • Where charging stations should be located
  • What type of charging is most needed
  • How often chargers would be used
  • How EV charging could support local economic development and tourism

Why We Are Asking for Your Input

Your feedback will help ensure any future EV charging investments:

  • Reflect community needs
  • Support local businesses and tourism
  • Are financially responsible for the Township

How Your Feedback Will Be Used

Survey results will be summarized in a report to Council and will inform:

  • Potential locations for future public EV charging stations
  • Decisions regarding Level 2 versus DC Fast Charging
  • Future funding applications (including provincial and federal grant programs)
  • Partnerships with local businesses and community facilities

All responses will be used for municipal planning purposes only.

Who Should Participate?

We want to hear from:

  • Year-round residents
  • Seasonal residents and cottagers
  • Visitors and tourists
  • Local business owners and employees
  • Commuters and workers travelling into the Township

Whether you currently own an electric vehicle or not, your feedback is valuable.
