The Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen has partnered with The County of Peterborough on the reconstruction of George St. (County Road 48) in Havelock. Given the extensive scope of the project, the work has been divided into three (3) phases, including several sub-phases.
Construction Update:
Construction work planned for 2026 will include:
- Phase 1c
- George Street East, from Quebec Street to Oak Street
- Phase 2, Part 1
- George Street East, from just east of Park Street to the William Street intersection,
- William Street, from George Street East to Ottawa Street East (Highway 7
Construction will begin in May and continue until November.
Scope of Work:
- Replacement of buried infrastructure (ex., water main, stormwater network, and sanitary system).
- Replacement of concrete sidewalks
- Replacement of the asphalt roadway surface
Key Points:
- Staged road closures will be required
- Pedestrian access will be maintained
- Businesses will remain open, with alternative parking arrangements provided.
- Access for emergency vehicles will be available at all times
