Project Overview
We're updating our Community Improvement Plan to better support local businesses and economic growth. Review the proposed changes and share your feedback
The Township of North Kawartha's Community Improvement Plan (CIP) helps stimulate private sector investment, redevelopment, and economic activity across our community. It offers financial incentives to property owners and businesses for improvements like building upgrades, signage, and agricultural enhancements.
Based on a review by the CIP Committee, we're proposing updates to make the program simpler, more efficient, and better aligned with our local needs. These changes include removing certain incentives that had low uptake, introducing fixed application periods, and clarifying eligibility rules. The updated program will operate under the working name Business Investment Partnership Program (BIPP).
Council has endorsed public consultation on these proposals. Your input as a resident, business owner, or stakeholder will help shape the final plan. Feedback will be gathered here on Engage North Kawartha and considered before a revised draft is presented to Council.
This draft is for consultation purposes only and does not represent an approved policy. No applications or decisions should be based on it at this time.
Key Goals of the Updated CIP (BIPP):
Encourage year-round business activity.
Support tourism, hospitality, retail, and agriculture.
Promote accessibility, structural improvements, and economic sustainability.
Align with the Township's 2023-2026 Strategic Plan and Economic Development Plan.
For more details, review the draft CIP (BIPP) and Staff Report below.
