In 2027, the Otonabee River Bridge and the Trent Canal Bridge are scheduled to undergo structural rehabilitations. The rehabilitation will address the ongoing structural issues with the concrete elements and provide improvements to the driving surface to extend the useful life of the bridge.
Peterborough County has retained D.M. Wills to complete the design and construction administration for these bridges.
Scope of Work:
Asphalt pavement replacement
Bridge deck concrete patching
Bridge deck joint repairs
Sidewalk and railing replacement
Retaining wall repair
The above work is anticipated based on the condition of the last inspection. Through the design process, other elements may need to be addressed.
Key Points:
The consultant shall provide alternatives for the construction staging. The County, with the help of the Township of Selwyn, emergency services, Lakefield businesses, and public input, will determine the best type of construction staging for the project.
Due to the proximity of the bridges to each other, the work will be completed concurrently on each.
Construction timing will be determined based on the design and type of construction staging.
Pedestrian access across the bridges should be able to be maintained throughout the project with some intermittent interruptions.
We appreciate everyone's patience and cooperation as we work to improve local infrastructure. For ongoing updates through the design process and information related to Public Information Centre’s, please continue to visit engage.ptbocounty.ca and subscribe to the project updates.
